Coronavirus lockdown isolation caused ‘shocking’ levels of decline in dementia patients

Lockdown isolation has caused “shocking” levels of decline for people with dementia, who are rapidly losing memory, speech, and ability to dress and feed themselves, an investigation by Alzheimer’s Society has found.

The charity heard from almost 2,000 people – both those with dementia and their carers – and discovered that since being forced to stay isolated and inside their homes, more than four in five (82 per cent) reported a deterioration in people with dementia’s symptoms.
